It’s been a tremendously busy time in my life. Work has been hectic, I’m preparing to fly out on a seven month deployment, and the amount of ridiculous admin work, most of it useless make-work nonsense, is mind-numbing. But in a few days I will be going on vacation and leaving it all behind for a few weeks.
Understandably the focus at home is on spending time with my wife and kid. The weather has been beautiful, when isn’t it in California, so we have been doing a lot of short trips on the weekend. We have some exciting stuff planned before I fly out.
I have piles of books to read, blog posts to write, and magazines to thumb through. I just don’t have enough time and motivation. By the end of the day all I want to do is drink a glass of wine and catch up on whatever I’m currently reading, The Captain Alatriste series if you are wondering.
But, work on the novel is coming along nicely. A novel, you ask. The goal is to have my first and possibly second full length work completed and out on the market by the end of the year. Things are coming a log nicely. Right now I’m working through a detailed outline that I hope to have finished before I fly out. Then, once settled in, I will spend my lonely nights drafting the thing. It’s going to be great.
Blog wise, I constantly want to write more but in the hierarchy of time and priority this place falls towards the bottom. But there’s always my twitter @dacianwanderer where you can read all of the random shit that pops into my mind throughout the day.
On another note I’ve been watching a lot of movies. 2019 was a fantastic year for film, I can’t remember the last time I enjoyed so many new movies in such a short time. Once Upon a Time in Hollywood was my favorite with Ford vs Ferrari a close second, but Parasite and The Lighthouse were right up there. I still need to catch Uncut Gems and 1917.
Until next time.
